I am dedicated to handcrafting delicate, understated jewelry to be enjoyed and worn every day. I make jewelry because I love to create personal treasures that are tiny reflections of the beauty in the world, and remind us to savor the small moments in this wonderful life. Creating a piece of jewelry using natural elements such as metal, silk, and gemstones is incredibly rewarding for me, and I hope that feeling comes through to those who wear my pieces.
It all started innocently enough – a visiting aunt showed me how to string pearls in 2000, and I haven’t stopped since. Stringing pearls turned into wire wrapping, which turned into traditional metalsmithing, all while collecting gemstones along the way. I am continually studying and perfecting new jewelry making techniques while remaining true to my signature understated style.
I select every gemstone, make every piece, photograph every picture, package every order, and respond to every email myself. I view my business as an extension of myself, and enjoy getting to know my customers and take pride in providing service that I would expect to receive.
I officially started my business in 2008 under the name Emma Alison Designs, which I named after my two little girls. Now that they are older — and a little embarrassed that I was using their names — in 2015 I changed the name to Heidy Henke Designs.
I make my home in Southlake, Texas with my husband and two little girls, Emma and Ali. When I’m not designing jewelry, I’m probably raving about Nutella, playing volleyball with my girls, planning my next vacation, or trying to outscore my husband in Candy Crush.
